Seems you could call me a JACK OF ALL TRADES. And master of none...LOL

Favorite area of home improvement:

All over the house, I have re-built the home were in and it took 7 years. Being in the service before sure helps with Lowes and Home Depot. They give Vets 10% off. Nice.

Custom Garage Makeover

Here is one way to transform a boring garage into a workshop/ man cave.

Materials used: ...»

Floors- PolyMax

Cabinets- Gladiator

The walls were already painted when we signed the contract so not sure what type of yellow was chosen.

Gardening: Garden question! (rose bush) (louisville ky)

I have a spreading rose bush, I think it is a Scarlet as I remember. It has developed some really odd looking branches. At first I thought it was a weed growing up through it, but nope, it really is attached to the bush.

Bold, Modern Dresser Makeover

We decided to give an old mid-century style dresser a bold blue makeover for our living room/office. This was a Craigslist find and we got it for a steal. I painted it a deep blue/teal ...»
color and sprayed the original hardware gold. Now it is a fun statement piece!

Penny floors

Saw this kitchen floor made by mosaic artist Amanda Edwards using pennies. Seems like a great idea. I was actually thinking of using this idea for a backsplash, but still a lot to consider.

Pricing Considerations

Many times the price cannot be calculated by SQUARE FOOTAGE alone. . . but rather by how difficult that little place may be to get to.

Carpenter Bee Trap

I wanted to hold off on posting this until I got some successful responses but it does look like DIY carpenter bee traps work. Google "No Sting Bee Trap" for a video but here are some examples sent to me by folks who've made one themselves.

Our penny kitchen floor.

31,140 pennies, some grout, and a little sealant later, and we have a pretty cool kitchen floor. :) The pennies are all heads up, facing the same direction.
