Over the weekend, I attended a class at Pottery Barn presented by Sherwin-Williams called “How to Choose the Perfect Wall Color.” The reality is that when it comes to paint, there are so many color choices that it can be a daunting task to find just the “perfect” color. To help make the process easier and give you confidence, here are 7 tips to help you find just the right color for you and your home.
1. Choose the paint color in the space you're painting
2. Choose paint last
3. Have your inspiration piece ready
4. Familiarize yourself with the color wheel
5. Know what mood you want to create
6. Create color continuity
7. When using more than one color, don't play fair!
Details about all of the tips above, plus images, are located in my full blog post. You can also find additional tips & tidbits to help you find just the right color.

Mary Davin on Nov 05, 2013@kim - Thanks! And, keeping in mind that each wall in a room takes on different lighting, it's best to test paint or chip samples on each of the 4 walls, not just one.

Shirley Kalinosky on May 11, 2015I brought home the full white sample card from Behr paint and put them up high on all four walls. All my hubby could see was the Ultra White shade. I don't want to go that bright of white. We have it in the hall and up the stairs to the upper hall. I would like something that isn't so white but not beige. Any suggestions on a light cream in the Behr paint? Did I mention we have 6 windows, 2 on 3 of the walls, a fireplace and 2 doorways. The room is 23 x 13 ft. Oh yes. 3-4 gal at least?

I can't decide on a paint color for my front porch furniture. My house has olive siding and the shutters are black. I was thinking black with a bright cushion. Any other suggestions? Thank you
