That's right....if you have a standard tub you can replace it with a walk-in open shower just as we did in this bathroom. The original cabinets were used but the counter tops were updated with beautiful granite.

    How did you create the slant for the drain? I haven't done something this big before so any help would be appreciated!

    I recommend making the opening 22-24" and the shower wall 36-38" if you are working with a 60" (5 foot) opening. You still my get a little splashing, but if you go with a tiled base board, problem solved. Jana

    I was at a friend's place that had the curtainless shower. I actually got cold from the draft because of the lack of the curtain. When I remodeled 15 years ago, I had a fiberglass cheap tub removed and a walk in shower put in. It has a small - 4 inch - edge to keep from flooding the rest of the house, a bench, a handheld shower head and I have a curtain that keeps the warmth and water in the shower, I have never been happier with what I did.
