  • First, select a pattern. I found mine in the Silhouette store. (additional supplies listed on blog)
  • Cut and weed out vinyl from negative space. *Video on how to create cutting file on my blog*
  • Next, apply transfer tape to design. This allows you to keep design while exposing sticky side of vinyl.

DIY Custom Sidelights Using Frosted Vinyl

I've been debating what to do with my sidelights since I moved into our house. Wanting to keep some degree of privacy while letting in light was my goal. Here's what I came up with using frosted vinyl and my Silhouette Cameo cutting machine.

  • After the paint had dried we added outdoor pillows for added comfort.  We chose deep seated cushions for the bottom. 1
  • In the beginning we took an old headboard and began framing and building the base of the swing. 2
  • Once the swing was put together, we added chains and hung it from the porch awning.  I painted it two coats of Annie Sloan's Duck Egg.

Sweeten Your Tomatoes With Baking Soda.

Want to grow the sweetest tomatoes around? Use baking soda near your plants in the garden.

Just sprinkle a small amount of baking soda on the soil around your tomato plants. (be careful not to get any on the plant itself and be also careful with young seedlings which are more tender.) Rusty Fence Project

Using some old concrete reinforcing fencing that is delightfully rusty, some IKEA flower pots, s-hooks and a bit of time, we created a fun vertical planter and trellis for ivy to grow up.
