  • I ran out of space in this tree circle – so MWHP (My Wonderful Hubby Phil) had the idea to move the washtub up – way up on the tree itself! 2
  • Feed grain scoops (again with MWHP's idea of placing them on the tree) with our favorite wind chimes we made from flattened spoons and vintage kitchen tools. (they sound so very pretty!) 2
  • Radio flyer wagon, washtub and an old heater repurposed as a plant stand.

Repurposed Junk Garden

"A garden is like a child: a little wild, hard to contain but makes me smile." - seen on a garden sign ...»

As greatly inspired by many – I've turned my love of junk to the outside of my house with a quite-a-bit of junk-influenced gardening.

Hope you enjoy!

A Southern Kitchen with Red Painted Cabinets = Perfect Setting for Christmas!

This is part of my Christmas Past series. My kitchen used to feature red-painted cabs, which created the perfect backdrop for Christmas decor. This is also the post that got me featured in a national magazine. Enjoy! :)

Make your own no-sew faux Roman shade!

Need an easy window treatment? I developed a way to make a faux Roman shade by using a piece of fabric and three tension rods. You simply double fabric over to make a big piece the width ...»
of your window and hang that from a tension rod. Then you use two more tension rods to achieve the look of a Roman shade! For more information and a full tutorial, click here: http://www.impartinggrace.com/2011/05/faux-r...

  • My front porch all decked out for fall!
  • This old wood box is full of faux pumpkins, flowers, leaves and a mini scarecrow.
  • I made the "S" by adding adhesive trim to a faux pumpkin.
  • My foyer table is decorated with more painted faux pumpkins and free subway art.
  • I painted an aqua stripe on the white pumpkin and made polka dots on the orange pumpkin using a pencil eraser.
  • Front door wreath made from Dollar Store items. Just hot glued everything on the wreath and hung it from a piece of ribbon.

Autumn Decor

I love to decorate my front porch for the different seasons & holidays. I can leave all of this out for autumn, Halloween and Thanksgiving.

How I grew my upper kitchen cabinets!

My short (original to the house) upper kitchen cabinets seemed out of proportion to my tall ceilings. After playing around with different ideas on how to change this, I came up with a ...»
solution that was fairly simple and cost less than a dinner out. If you have DIY skills, then this is a project you can easily tackle. Check out my step-by step here: http://shannonberrey.com/_blog/Shannon_Berre...

Twin Bed Turned Bench

We turned an old twin bed into a cute bench and by we, I mean I bought the bed and said, "Honey, do you think you could turn this into a bench?" I did sand and paint it.
