About Me:

Living the good life in Florida and I'm the wife of a Marine with 27+ years of service and a Mom to 3 great kids and 3 great dogs. We are weekend warriors and always looking at ways to add beauty to our home. I love being outside working in the yard the most and will hopefully one day have the English Garden in the backyard that I've always dreamed of. :)

Recent Activity

  • Our pergola and firepit area that my husband built has been a wonderful addition to our backyard. He even built me a beautiful potting bench with the leftover lumber.

Clay, we've been using it and have never had a problem. We don't place huge amounts of wood on ...»
pit either. It's very safe. We're out more towards the country so no city codes here. :)

  • Start by placing a Styrofoam block in your container. Use a dowel to stack your carve-able pumpkins. You will need to remove two stems off of the two bottom pumpkins.
  • Add some fall florals under the bottom pumpkin. Attach with hot glue.
  • To add a monogram to your pumpkin, print out a letter, and use a few stick pins to hold it in place. Take another stick pin and gentle poke small holes following the lines of your letter.
  • Play "dot-to-dot" with a pencil and trace the outline of your letter. Paint with acrylic paint, and finish with a spray sealer.
  • Now all your topiary needs is a bow!

Dragonfly made from old license plates

I love anything metal! I had a bunch of license plates that were lying around taking up space and collecting dust. I decided to make a dragonfly using the license plates and other ...»
discarded materials that I had on hand. You will need license plates, chair spindle, screws, wire and something different and whimsical for the eyes. To see more click on the link to my blog. #Love2Repurpose #recycle

  • Vertical succulent garden made with pistachio shells.
  • The "succulents" in their natural shell color. 3
  • Each "succulent" was dyed with fabric dye. I kept them in the dye at varying lengths of time to get different depths of color for each flower.

Faux "Succulent Garden" Made With Pistachio Shells

I love the look of vertical succulent gardens, but I have the very opposite of a green thumb, and purchasing that many succulents only to have them die would be quite costly. (Yes, I can ...»
actually kill succulents.) So I crafted my very own succulent garden out of pistachio shells. I'm pretty sure I can't kill this one. :)

  • The gate inspired window screens flank the big picture window in the living room. They're big but don't overpower the room due to being slightly folded up and white. It's the first thing visitors notice when they come for a visit. 4
  • The screens started as your traditional japanese styled room dividers I found at the thrift. The concept worked great.. but I wanted them to reflect me moreso.
  • I air-nailed pine tongue and groove onto the screens, then trimmed the tops.
  • The end result is a pretty cottage styled accent that would suit most any decor. AND they are easy keepers for homes with pet hair... just sayin. :) 2

Let the sun shine in with old gate window screens

I am not a traditional curtain kinda gal. I prefer my windows wide open to let that sunshine in. However bare windows can look pretty cold all on their own. So I softened up my big ...»
picture window with some gate styled window screens.

I think it looks nice (I have the almost the same granite in my kitchen) but like Karrie said, ...»
once you actually use it as a chalkboard it gets gray and doesn't clean well. I did a wall in one of my kids rooms. For my kitchen I bought an old ornate mirror at an antique store and painted it with chalkboard paint and use that as my place to make list, notes, etc. People love the idea and I've made a few for friends as presents as well.
