DIY Addict, lover of Junk, Organic/Heirloom Gardening, Sewing, Crafting, Artisan Bread-making, Artisan Cheese-making, Cooking, Creating Organic Bath & Body Products, Artisan Non Paraffin Candle-making. My family is my heart and soul and that includes my fur babies. I've owned 3 successful businesses, with just having temporarily closing the 3rd, until our "Whole House Reno" is completed. Then we Reno the biz and re-open. ;)

We are renovating a 1956 Cottage and business, so whichever room we're currently tackling is my fav. ;)

How do I get rid of those stupid half dozen flies that continually circle on the front porch. They are too low for a hanging fly trap to do any good. Help - I know they will be out there all summer. Thanks in advance.
Home Maintenance & Repairs: Bug I.D.?
When I was a kid I used to see these every fall as school was starting the kind of swarmed. Thousands of them died in the gutters when the rains started (and smelled bad). I can't remember their name, nor the folk lore that went with their appearance. Right now there are a fairly large number of them wandering around our property. Anyone know what they are and/or anything else about them?
