How to Finish Drywall Seams

Finishing drywall seams may seem like a job for the pros, but you can do this with the right tools and patience. It usually takes 2-3 coats and an equal amount of days to get a ...»
professional seam.

1. Start by laying tape into a generous amount of joint compound.

2. Scrape the excess off.

3. Lay another coat of joint compound on top. Use the taping knife to gently scrape away and smooth excess.

4. Create a slight hill over the tape.

  • The prep work is the most difficult part. As you can see it was a deep cherry wood color before. Pretty but needed an update.
  • The during...It is a true black color in La Craie chalk paint. It distressed beautiful!
  • Of course the inspiration to paint the FP surround was the Man chair, which is a black distressed color.
