  • use old newspapers (or book pages, maps or an atlas) as a creative wall covering
  • if you have an old wall or ceiling with imperfections that need hiding this could be the idea for you
  • just lay out your newspaper pages to make sure you get the look you're going for (I went all black and white with one random full color page)
  • make your own decopage for under $6 for the whole room.

Create a focal wall (that will hide imperfections) for less than $6!

I was in need of a relatively quick and extremely inexpensive idea to finish off the ceiling in a room that has a few old cracks in the plaster. I needed a solution that didn't require ...»
any power tools and wasn't going to take as much time as caulking and spackling and sanding and priming and painting. (That idea is just exhausting! Especially on the ceiling.) I had initially thought old book pages would work, but then I came across our bin of old newspapers ready to be recycled. With the help of my bff and a few hours we created an eclectic and unique focal wall. #recycle

A pile of salvage + a hutch top = a to die for potting bench

My bestie, Liz has been collecting parts, pieces and stuff to create a potting bench. She has been collecting these parts over thousands of miles. When she comes to NC to visit me or in ...»
Texas where she lives. She hauled, shipped and did a carry on for those watering cans. Nothing stops her when she is on a mission and has a vision to bring to life.

The whole piece is comprised of found items. The legs are old porch columns, the top is an old chippy door. The shelving unit on top is from an antique store part of an old hutch I think.

Finally a buffet for me.

I paint furniture and usually the good stuff always got sold at shows. Not this time. I found an amazing buffet- well not so amazing when I found it - but she is now. And she is all mine. ...»
She needed a bit of tweaking and rebuilding but she was so worth all the trouble. Meet Eloise. And don't overlook a piece that is broken - the cheap price might be all it takes to bring it home and make it yours.

My Daughter's Green Room

My daughter wanted her whole room painted green...like Kermit green. Instead, I painted a bold stripe of green on bright white walls, with green accessories. She loved it. #Bestof2012 ...»
