Making a Waterproof Burlap Topped Table

I've made a burlap topped table before but purchased a piece of glass for the top so it wouldn't get stained or wet. I've been mulling this idea over in my head as an alternative to ...»
purchasing glass. I finally tried it and wanted to share the result with you! I used polyurethane to coat the top and ended up with a nice, hard finish which is impervious to moisture. I give a tutorial on the blog...click the link.

Tire Planters

Old tires don't have to be useless, there are so many fabulous projects using old tires.... Here is my take on a hanging tire planter. Plant colorful flowers in the summer and beautiful ...»
mums in the fall.

A side note on paint: While I realize that other repurposed tires have been painted, I chose not to paint mine, leaving the tire, just as it is: a tire. The flowers add enough color for me. I also live in Toronto where we get some pretty nasty weather and paint would just peel, crack and chip off. Kudos to those who paint tires and have them looking pretty all year round!

Tire Ottoman

I used Polyester braided rope - I still have to add the legs and some trim around the center piece.

tire planters

Using a lawnmower tire, which I painted, made the perfect planter for ivy. This adds a lot of color to my otherwise drab exterior wall of our deck. We plant to do one in lime green, blue and red...it will look like lifesavers hanging off of the wall
