What kind of plant is this?
These are growing in my neighbors yard. We have no clue what they are??? It has a really thick stem like a sunflower would. We thought it was a weed but there are about 6-7 and theyre spaced apart perfectly as if planted purposely. Please help solve the plant mystery

What is this?
I got this from a fellow gardener down south who didn't know what it was either. When I moved back to NY I brought some with me praying it would survive the first hard winter. It did and it puts on such a show that neighbors ask what it is and where I got, never seen it at any nursery. Notice it reaches the second floor over hang on a typical high ranch.
