Tire Planters

Old tires don't have to be useless, there are so many fabulous projects using old tires.... Here is my take on a hanging tire planter. Plant colorful flowers in the summer and beautiful ...»
mums in the fall.

A side note on paint: While I realize that other repurposed tires have been painted, I chose not to paint mine, leaving the tire, just as it is: a tire. The flowers add enough color for me. I also live in Toronto where we get some pretty nasty weather and paint would just peel, crack and chip off. Kudos to those who paint tires and have them looking pretty all year round!

Time to replace tomato cage planters

About 8 years ago I was into tomato cages and chicken wire... this is one of the ways I played with both. ...»

I love that when I water the top basket the water flows through the other two.

Garden Salvage

I took an old door and coated the glass with mirror paint, then I mounted it on my fence. I added some porch poles and bunk bed slats as a frame around the door; decorating it with paint ...»
and flower pot finials. I added a decorative piece of steel as a topper and put some stepping stones in front of it. This is my "secret" door to nowhere.

Gardening: A question about a plant.

A lady approached me at Lowe's a few month ago as I was looking at some houseplants and asked me if I wanted some. She was remodeling a room and needed all the houseplants gone. I ...»
jumped at the offer. She gave me what looks like an Iris plant but now two of the leaves have grown babies at the tip almost like a spider plant. I put the babies in the soil and now they have rooted. Any one know what type of plant this could be?

I have a plant just like it. Was given to me by mother-in-law many years ago. She just told me ...»
it was a spider plant. Maybe there are different varieties, but I don't know its 'real' name. Sorry, thats the best I can do - good luck :)
