Vaseline Distressed Memo Board

Each month a few of my bloggy pals get together and challenge each other to a fun This month's theme was pegboard and I decided to create a fun addition to our mudroom.
I have to admit, I didn't want to go the traditional route of using pegboard for organizing. I ended up using a project that I had already started and added a bit of pegboard for a finishing touch.
I started by cutting, staining and building a frame. (You could use pegboard for the back of the frame instead of a solid piece of wood, but I was working with a project that I had already started)
Once the paint was dry I rubbed off the vaseline and was left with a perfectly distressed frame. No sanding required!
I finished off the board with a clip an encouraging quote (from my friend Bre @Brepurposed!) The memo board now hangs in our mudroom and is the perfect place to display my kids original artwork or inspiring quotes.

Z on Sep 09, 2015Thank you for sharing this project Katie. I explained it to someone that wanted to distress something they were working on and I don't think they thought it would work. You proved it does. You have an awesome mudroom!
