Upcycled Chandelier Ruffles

I recently put up a vintage thrift store chandy that looked a little plain-jane. So I used a throwaway item to create pretty white ruffles around each light bulb base. See if you can guess what I used?
Here's the before shot:
BEFORE!
I made flower-like petals from the lids of Starbucks drink cups.
I trimmed away the center and outer edge of each lid, then flipped the whole thing inside out.
Nested four of them together, and slipped the nest down over the bulb base.
IMPORTANT NOTE!!!! Be sure the flammable plastic does NOT touch anything hot! Only use with the type of bulb with a cool-to-the-touch base. And keep the ruffles down low so they never contact the actual bulb. The photo below shows the florescent bulb I used.
Hope you liked this weird little idea! I am always trying to find ways to upcycle those pesky Starbucks cups, which do tend to accumulate. If you like, visit the blog and click on the category "Starbucks Crafts" to see a few fun jewelry and home decor ideas.
