An Industrial Fall Sign From a Repurposed Barn Find

While picking one weekend, I happened upon a random metal object with gorgeous patina. See how I used it to create an easy piece of decor!
Difficulty: Easy

It all started with this scrap part I found at a local barn. Do you know what it is?

It's an engine gasket! Or at least, part of one...I'm no auto expert ;) I just loved its rusty, weathered look.

First, I whitewashed a piece of scrap wood with some glaze. Then I printed out some letters and transferred them to the wood - I explain exactly how in my blog post (linked below).
To finish it off, I attached my rusty find to the wood with some chunky bolts.

And my sign was complete!

Your "random metal object" is a gasket to a car/truck motor...love you use of it though. Great way of thinking outside the box, lol
