This festive, fun Christmas tree is super easy to put together, especially if you're a junk collector like me. If you have an assortment of rulers, yardsticks, folding rulers, measuring tapes, and assorted other junk, then you're half-way there.
An electric saw of some kind is definitely handy for this project (I have a miter saw), but there are ways around it. Collect things of various sizes, incorporate measuring tapes (both cloth and metal), which you can cut with scissors, and try using a hack saw and some sand paper.
You'll need something to attach your tree to, and an old cupboard door works perfectly, but so would a large bread board or a shutter.
Varying colors, sizes and textures makes your tree all the more interesting. Here you see pieces of yardstick in various colors, a piece of a folding ruler with some brass bis, and at the top, a red hack saw blade.
Assemble your tree in a pleasing manner and glue to your wood background. Don't forget to include a few interesting pieces like this vintage level (on the bottom).
I scrounged through my craft supplies and found a galvanized star that was perfect for my tree. Find more details on my blog :)
