I really want to try AS chalk paint. I hear it's a bit difficult to work with. Any tips?

Donna McCrummen on Dec 21, 2011Thank you Yamini - I found a shop that offers classes using AS paints. I'm hoping they will have one in January. I've used homemade chalk paint using latex and baking soda but I really want to try the real thing. I want the class so I don't screw it up at $40 a quart.Helpful Reply

Yamini LEED AP at Urbanmotifs on Dec 21, 2011Exactly, I would take the class for the same reason. Maybe you could share some techniques here on hometalk for all the prospective ALCP enthusiasts. Good Luck Donna!Helpful Reply

Gloria F on Dec 21, 2011A class would be great but don't be scared of this paint. I find it really easy to use. I didn't buy the AS was brushes and use a really thick natural bristle brush that I picked up at Home Depot. It works great for me.Helpful Reply

Lesley on Feb 20, 2015I just dived in and starting using ASCP. I watched a couple of videos on You Tube first. I have found it really easy to use. You dont need the special Annie Sloan paintbrushes, I used some nice quality nylon brushes that I found in our local cheap hardware store. I used a torn up sheet for applying the wax, again, you dont need to spend money on the Annie Sloan merchandise. Its easier than you think!Helpful Reply
