Kitchen Remodel
by
Gail Salminen
(IC: homeowner)
This morning I felt like old mother hubbard, all of the cupboards were bare LOL. Lots of work getting them to that state. Here are some before pics - what it used to look like.
The before kitchen, minus the clutter.
Oops forgot to take my coffee cup out of the shot.
Enterance from the front hallway (actually only hallway)
Where the fridge used to be - which is now in our dining room temporarily until kitchen is done and new fridge arrive, but will be located on the other side of the kitchen.
Stove is also being replaced with a gas stove and will be located on the opposite wall where the fridge was.
Day 3 and had to adjust the approach. The way the original ceilings were installed would not allow the electrician to install the new lighting without taking the ceilings down.
They will come to drywall the ceilings tomorrow and the new floor goes in.
I am glad we decided to go the extra mile and do this, now the lighting will be much better and look fantastic.
While not in this picture, the other bonus to removing the ceiling is that it made it easier to install the venting for the new stove hood.
Day 4 update: floors are being installed, will finish tomorrow.
Here is the hood vent that was installed while the ceiling was down - so much easier.
Ceilings are hung and first coat of mucking done - back tomorrow to finish - need to assess when the painting will be done now - was going to be done on Saturday but the ceilings delayed that. I am not worried as our contractor Tim Findlay from Lucid has been excellent from the beginning.
Will post more next week when cabinets go in.
