Hellebores orientalis in our Shade Path Garden this week.

Lenten Rose (Hellebores) are one of the best plants for the shade garden in spring. And their leathery, dark green leaves add interest to the garden for the rest of the growing season as well.
Striking dark purple Hellebores...
My favorite: pink with purple spots.
Yellow with purple spots. This one has a much more upright habit.
Plant these clump-forming plants up in a raised bed at waist height so that you can easily enjoy their pendulous blooms in early spring.

thanks so much. I went straight to the Edelweiss site and ordered it. Now if the snow storms will stop here in Minnesota, I might be able to get out to start cleaning up. We have had almost a foot of snow on our back deck --- not really normal for the Twin Cities. happy gardening. P.S. Douglas Hunt, I will be looking up Ivory prince also. thanks
  • Glad to help! We are having snow flurries this am in PA too.... even while the weeping cherry tree is starting to bloom. Very odd. And Ivory Prince is on my "Plant Wish List" also! It is a beauty.
