Hello Talkers, I have an old dresser with claw feet. It's missing a toe.

What is the best material to use to re-sculpt the toe? Plastic wood?

I would try to make one out of modeling clay that once dried, you can see if you can paint it the same color or as close as possible to your dresser. Also modeling clay comes in many colors, so you may not need to paint it at all.

Instead, you just need a good story about your amputee dresser. Maybe it lost a toe to frostbite on a heli-skiing trip.

Most of the craft stores have rubber molding kits you can purchase. Simply make a mold of one of the other feet then using a fiberglass and resin kit make a new foot. Once dry you need to cut it leaving a tab on it that can be mitered into the remaining claw and glued into place. A little putty and paint and its good as new. You should be able to find everything you need including the fiberglass and resin kits at the larger craft stores near by. Making this fragile part needs to be made out of something that will withstand abuse. Plastic wood, wood hardening putty and all the other types of materials end up breaking off easily. If its just a tiny toe, you could do it with other materials, but they tend to be fragile and break off anyway. Good luck with this one.

I like Steves idea. But since she will be for sale I need her to be showroom ready. I was hoping for something a bit easier than your suggestion sounds Bob. Since it will be painted it doesn't need to be perfect. LOL toenail polish.

You could also use some fimo clay...when that dries is pretty hard and and be painted / stained
