Ikea Dresser Hack = New Foyer Table!

When I had an opportunity recently to do a makeover of a plain Ikea Rast dresser, I knew just what I wanted to do. I wanted to turn my Ikea dresser into a new little foyer table to fill a blank space by my front door. I also knew I wanted to make it match a TV stand we have in this same room that was wooden slats on its doors with black trim.
The Ikea Rast dresser is a basic three drawer dresser that comes unassembled. The first step is laying out all your pieces and trying not to be overwhelmed!
I decided to eliminate the bottom drawer of my dresser and use that space for a shelf instead. A top piece and a bottom piece were also added to my dresser to give it more of a "table" look than a dresser.
Slats were put on the two remaining drawers to give it the look I wanted to match my TV stand.
I painted between each of the slats to make them look more realistic. I probably should have painted the drawer first and then put on the slats!
I then painted and stained the dresser, as well as the rest of the drawers. Hardware was added to the drawers for a finishing touch.
It was just what I needed beside my front door! I added a couple of baskets on the shelf as well as a handy lamp and some other decorative pieces.
