Do interior paints with primer in them truly work?

Peace Painting Co., Inc. on Feb 01, 2012You don't need what's called a primer if you are just changing color, only multiple coats of finish paint. Primers generally are for sealing the surfaces of raw materials. BTW, the more money you spend for the paint, the fewer coats it will take to cover. This is due to how finely ground the pigments are; the finer they are ground, the better they cover. Best, CharlesHelpful Reply

WallsTreat Studio/ Kass Wilson on Feb 02, 2012Ben Moore has a primer called Fresh Start. It can be tinted very close to the color you want to end up with. That will definitely eliminate a coat.Helpful Reply

HandyANDY - Handyman & All Repairs, LLC on Feb 02, 2012You can also tint Zinser 1-2-3 which is a latex primer to change colors in one coat primer....one coat finish paint. Use premium paints though. I have used the Behr combined paint & primer with good results for a client who worked for Behr and insisted on using it. The project turned out well...I just prefer Sherwin Williams for my interior & exterior paint projectsHelpful Reply

Dan's of Central Florida, Inc. on Feb 02, 2012I tried them out once and still had to apply multiple coats for things to look right. Not worth it, I was not impressed at all. In my opinion, it is just a gimmick for homeowners/people who may not know any better.Helpful Reply
