Has anyone used Loropetalum in Florida? Plantfiles says it can get up to 12' tall. I have only seen it 2-3' tall.

360 Sod (Donna Dixson) on Feb 23, 2012There are quite a few cultivars Cynthia, ranging from Purple Pixie which is a ground cover to some that get 12ft tall. I took this picture in the back yard of a client. It is screening a huge culvert in the corner of his property.Helpful Reply

Douglas Hunt on Feb 24, 2012Loropetalum is actually quite popular in Florida, Cynthia, and, as Four Seasons says, cultivars range from small to quite large. Be aware that it does like acid soil, and our soils can tend to be on the alkaline side, especially along the coast where you are, so you should do a soil test to make sure it would be happy before buying one.Helpful Reply
