My Version Of The Tiered Stand From Wooden Bowls#DIYLikeABoss

I have been collecting old wooden salad bowls for some time. I finally decided to make some tiered trays. I did make one from old cake pans but I really like how the one from the wooden bowls turned out
I cut the spindle and drilled pilot holes in the ends so I could insert the dowel screws.
Holes were also drilled into the middle of the bowls so that all the pieces can be assembled.
I started putting it all together.
This is what is looks like put together. Now it is time to make it pretty.
The first coat of paint is my DIY chalk paint.
Then I painted on the crackle medium from Sherwin-Williams. Once the tiered tray was dry I painted on the DIY chalk paint in a creamy color. Then I painted it with Valspar Clear Protector.
The top is finished off with a knob like icing on a cake.
Enjoyed the project?

Cyndadouglas on Mar 15, 2016Debra, they do crafts but the people here are mostly unable to do them. The have started coloring which they seem to like and even the alzheimers and dementia residents enjoy it. But they only can work a limited time and the class is once a week. They try to do things but they are very limited. There are about three of us who do not have mental limitations, sadly. It is a very small place, and also a community E.R. and one hospital bed. There are 21 Residents. The seriously ill or injured are sent to larger towns and hospitals. We do have a good and enthusiastic activity director and assistant now. I am here as I can' no longer live alone but I still want to carve wood and eggs, and paint, etc, but there is no place. I am hooked on coloring now. hehe. It is fun, doesn't make a big mess, and I can get as artistic as I like. I mostly use colored pencils and have some really good quality ones that are satisfying. Debra, wish you were my neighbor, :-)
