KMS Woodworks on Mar 19, 2012Way back in the old days they used "hide glue" ...yup...Roy Rogers trusty steed "Trigger" was melted down in the glue factory. The cool thing about hide glues is they can be "unglued" by adding a little heat. This type of glue is still used in Luthier work when connecting the neck of a guitar to its body...this allows in to be removed if needed. Modern PVA glues are stronger and in for the long haul....it is one reason the "wood" part of many new styles of cabinets is so wimpy. The better glues pick up the slack that cheesy joinery left behind.Helpful Reply
