Walter do you know anything about Pearl's premium lawn seed?

Walter Reeves on Mar 29, 2012It contains tall fescue, fine fescue and bluegrass seed. The last two do not do well in Atlanta. University of Georgia turf expert Clint Waltz poses these thoughts: The images on the website are from climates different than those of the Southeastern U.S. Over the past 20+ years I have evaluated and researched the turfgrass species adapted to our climate and am unaware of any grass species that is capable of meeting the claims as presented.. It is interesting that the species that comprise Pearl's Premium are not listed on the website. I've seen and tested other grass seed mixtures with similar claims and suspect Pearl's Premium is a mixture of three to four species. If the species I suspect comprise this product, they are not adapted to our climate and, therefore, are not sustainable. Other than testimonials, is there any performance data? Regardless of it was from the Southeast. I could not easily find any unbiased replicated data on the website. I routinely conduct cultivar evaluations specifically investigating species and cultivars best adapted to our climate. Those evaluations include hardiness under high temperatures - in the Southeast that is not only daytime highs but nighttime lows - and periodic drought - the conditions we experience during our summers.Helpful Reply
