So about 25 years ago this now tired table came into my life.
This was a Anniversary present from my Father to my Mother. She had complained of the kids wearing out her table and had wanted a new one for years. One spring afternoon day I came home from school to see this then gorgeous table.
Fast toward to the present. My parents are now divorced {that's a story for another day!} and I acquired this table. At first I refused to take it, but, in the end it has memories.
Memories of our family blowing out birthday candles, memories of eating Thanksgiving Dinner with my cousins and waking up on Sunday's to Biscuits and Gravy are just a few of the reasons why I couldn't get rid of this Dining Room Table!

I had searched and searched for a new table. I was gonna have to take a loan out {I kid, I kid!} to buy the dining room sets that I loved and Hubby wouldn't let that happen so I had to break down and just do my own Dining Room Table Makeover that would be inspired by the huge Farmhouse trend.
I will admit, it took about two days and 8 hours total, but, the process was worth it.
The top looks so stunning with the two coats that I put on. The secret to this was sanding to the bare wood and just doing the work right properly the first time.
I am so thrilled with how the project turned out and can't wait to do more with Americana Decor's Chalky Finish...in fact I used what was leftover and redid my fireplace ;)
Enjoyed the project?
