I have this backsplash in my kitchen and I like the texture but not the color is there any way to paint it?

Designs by BSB on Apr 20, 2012Pretty!! Think about logistics of cleaning at counter level too, especially behind the stove area. These types of embellishments are often used in a linear bar or a featured framed out area (or focal point) above a sink or cooktop. Be sure to weigh the esthetics to the clean-ability.Helpful Reply

Diane R on Apr 20, 2012The tile seems like it is plastic, that is why I am not sure if it is paintable.Helpful Reply

Donna McCrummen on Apr 20, 2012Is this metal or the nail on faux kind? From your post it sounds like it's installed already which would make spraying very difficult. Either way you can use CeCe Caldwell's Paint and Satin Finish. You can paint anything with this stuff. Really anything, glass, leather, fabric, walls, metal, plastic, laminate....you name it. And a little goes a long way! I use it for furniture all the time - www.shabbydaze.comHelpful Reply

Maureen S on Apr 20, 2012You should take a picture to a professional paint store so they can help pick out the right material and give you steps for painting procedure.Helpful Reply

Peace Painting Co., Inc. on Apr 20, 2012Everything can be painted Diane. Clean it with denatured alcohol and scuff it with a sanding sponge. Then you can prime it and paint it. The primer is the most important part. Is it metal? CPHelpful Reply

Diane R on Apr 20, 2012It is definitely not metal. It is some sort of plastic. There isn't much of it so if it can be painted that would be the best and easiest option.Helpful Reply

Jeff C on Apr 21, 2012I would visit HomeDepot or Lowes and look at their spray paint section. I'm sure Krylon or Rustoleum has a spray paint for plastic, they definitely have paint for metal.Helpful Reply

WallsTreat Studio/ Kass Wilson on Apr 21, 2012Yes, a good alkyd primer like XIM or Styx is where to start. If it was any place but a backsplash, any primer would do. But in this case, you will need maximum adhesion and durability. Be sure to sand it lightly before you start. . . just enough to rough it up and get the shine off.Helpful Reply

Peace Painting Co., Inc. on Apr 21, 2012Zinzer 123 is adequate and easily available. Spray would infiltrate the whole kitchen +. All you really need is a small foam core roller.Helpful Reply

Deborah Burkett on Jan 19, 2015The backsplashes are available at Home Depot for about $20.00. I would invest in one of those and do some samples of what you are looking for and which one you like best. I would try some plain brown shoe wax (canned) around the textures.Helpful Reply
