My roses died in a span of 2 days after i planted them. What could have i done wrong?

My roses are dry and looks unhealthy after i planted them. But i followed the instructions on how to plant and care for them.

Did the whole bush die or just the flowers? And did you put water in the hole and let it soak into the ground before filling the hole with the dirt? And did you also water the dirt around the rose in the pot before placing in the hole? Mary Thompson (Hester, LA)

Can you give us a bit more information on your Roses? Were they shipped to you bare root or did you purchase them locally? What size are your plants? They probably are not really dead from two days unless something went terribly wrong or they were problematic before prior to purchase. But we need more details in order to help you assess the problem and maybe SAVE your roses.

they are smooth touch tornless roses purchased at home depot. one gallon each rose bush. they are not so matured or big when i bought them but they were beautiful. no, i did not water the wholes mary t. i did not even water the pot before putting the roses on the wholes. but i did water after planting. they seem so dead. but the branches are not completely brown. but weak looking. what can i do to save them? thanks so much to both of you.

I would water them slowly, for like an hour, and see what happens. I have transplanted many roses ans even if they look bad for a few days they always seem to perk up. Roses are pretty forgiving, if after about two weeks they still look this way, take them back to Home Depot, they wil replace them.. Next time, seeing as you are in GA, try to wait till an overcast or cooler day to plant, if you can't then make sure you water them well to keep the roots cool and hydrated. Good luck gardening!
