The fans of Unicorn Spit often say "just jump in and use your hands, it's kind of like finger painting!" So I thought: keep it simple - finger paint a work of art!
A simple wood plate from Goodwill was my canvas. On the back it says it's mahogany wood. I sanded the front very well to prepare for the stain.
I will admit, I didn't start out thinking I would finger paint. I first stained it with Unicorn Spit's prototype Shimmer Spit. This Shimmer has a lot of sparkle! Shimmer is going into production and will be available soon. Anyway I just couldn't figure out where to go from here, and was over-thinking it. Thats when I thought, keep it simple! That's the beauty of spit - you can start over or add more. It's water based and it's very easy to change your mind. So I did!
So I squirted the spit on, one color at a time. I had no plan, I just swirled and had fun! I felt like a kid! It's great how the colors gently mix. This is the chalky look it gets as it dries, before the topcoat is put on.
After drying overnight I sprayed three coats of lacquer. That gave it a nice shine. You can use any oil based sealer. Such a fun creation that took only a few minutes each day!
A close-up. Wish you could see the shimmer going on!
