Settee Makeover With Barn Wood

I saw this settee at a yard sale and didn't know if it was for sale. It was set on the side of the yard like maybe someone was coming back for it. I asked the lady at the sale and it was still for sale!!! Score! I had to bring it home.
This piece was in great condition. The lady told me the entire history about this piece and how she came to inherit it. (You can read all about it in my blog post).
The lady that owned it had planned on giving this piece a makeover, but never got around to it. I was happy to do it. To make it usable again, I removed the all the springs (the springs are HUGE! I will be using them for a different project) and we cut barn wood to fit the seat area. I knew upholstering this piece would cost a lot of money and would be out of my budget so I went with something that still kept the integrity of the piece and made it functional again.
Once we sanded the barn wood, it looked really great against the original wood of the settee.
I did not want to paint this piece. The wood was beautiful and I like to barn wood seat on it. That was all it took! Easy peasy makeover! You could add a cushion to it as well. Would you have picked up this piece? What would you have done to it?
Enjoyed the project?
