Is there a product besides 60lb bags of cement you can use outside and it will last. Want to make stepping stones.

Woodbridge Environmental Tiptophouse.com on May 25, 2012Carol, simple answer is no, Cement comes in 60 and 80 lb bags only that I am aware of. You do need concrete mix to make any stepping stone that would be strong enough to last a few years. If its simply a matter of the weight, purchase some smaller plastic tubs and once you purchase the cement at the home center, ask them to cut the bag open for you and put it in several lighter containers so you can handle it yourself. I am sure the guys there will do that for you. Put some plastic down in your trunk so the cement does not get into the carpet.Helpful Reply

KMS Woodworks on May 26, 2012quikcrete also comes in 40 pounders...at least according to their website....however I have never seen them for sale any where. You can buy "ready made" pavers that are much lighter. You can also build up walk ways using bricks or section of flagstone.Helpful Reply

Carol C on May 26, 2012Thanks KMS and Woodbridge. I'm thinking this is a job for the pros. I did like your idea of the home center putting cement in manageable containers, would they really do that?Helpful Reply

Carol C on May 29, 2012What about quickcrete? It comes in 60-80 lb bags. I can't handle that. I made stepping stones as a craft project and a small packet of concrete was in the kit. That's something I could handle but I don't know what the product was.Helpful Reply

Kelly F on May 29, 2012Quickcrete comes in smaller bags- also you could take a box/bag thing to the hardware store and ask them to break the bag up for you. They will help you if you ask. Quickcrete its super fast setting (compared with traditional concrete) and easy to use- no mixing of ingredients- just add water .Helpful Reply
