Feeding Birds Niger Seeds Part Two

Welcome to Part Two of TLLG's info NIGER feeders. I first referred to NIGER feeders in my 7-9-13 entry here on HT, and in yesterday's post , I provided some details about a NIGER feeder whose screen can be changed to allow the feeder to become a peanut-feeder.
So as to not be redundant in this entry re facts (about NIGER feeders and NIGER seeds) that have been discussed in my previous posts, this entry will focus on another variety of NIGER feeders.
The type featured here is a hanging variety with an attached tray where birds can either "stand" or eat from. However, when I first procured this feeder, finding a place to hang it from was problematic, so I set the feeder atop various surfaces in my garden.
I am sharing this feeder placement with you in the event that you have a similar issue (places to hang feeders) in your garden. A few of my visiting birds' response to the Yellow NIGER Feeder can be seen in the six images below.

Val on Apr 16, 2014Love this, Patricia! We go through Niger seed like crazy here. Our little American Goldfinches can't get enough of it. Can't wait for them to come back each spring! Val

Sue Kiene on May 31, 2016I have found with bigger feeders and Niger seed you sometimes sacrifice the finches. I have a regular feeding area for the bigger birds and a separate area for my smaller finch feeder. The bigger birds cannot easily land on it and the finches, canaries etc. are not having to fight their way in to eat. Also for all you finch feeders out there, finch feed, is not finch feed is not finch feed. Mine love the Niger seed but the off brand that many places carry which is cheaper, my little children say no no no. Like trying to feed spinach to a kid that hates it LOL
