I have 1 peony bush in the full sun, and it blooms every year. But I also have 3 peony bushes that are in partial sun and they didn't bloom this year, it seems like they skip a year or two....what can I do?

Do notice any big black ants crawling on top of the blooms. If you don't than that's probably the problem. The ants tickle the buds to open so they can get to the sweet nectar. My mom had the same problem and every year she would spray the bush to kill the ants and the buds won't open when I told her the ants and the bush have a symbiotic relationship ( they both need each other ) she stop spraying and the buds bloomed. Good luck.

I think it is this years irractic growing season. Mine only had one bud which did have the ants.It bloomed for a very short period of time. Peonies prefer to be in partial sun.

Peonies love full sun and a soil high in organic matter. Could your plants be planted too deep? The eyes should be no more than an 1" deep.

Mine didn't produce as much as they would normally. I guess we will wait till next year to see what happens. Mine is usually HUGE and tons of blooms except for this year. Keep feeding it.

Water the dirt around them with Shaklee's Basic H2 Concentrate solution prepared according to directions on bottle. For more information, contact http://Marianne-and-Lee-Cavett.myshaklee.com

You barley cover the tuber...about 1" of soil....and the "eyes" will be visable above ground.
