Julee S - with all that you have going on!! Thank you for taking the time - that soft glow from the light is beautiful and your petunias are to die for!! Obviously they're very happy being there!! -
Julee S thanks for showing us what it looks like w/the light on. Lovely! Bet it's romantic in the evenings. -
Last year before we had made the metal cover for the top water leaked into the cabinet right on the 5 watt bulb I have hanging inside and boy were there fireworks! My son and his friends were all siting on the deck and boy did they move fast! Sparks came flying right out of the cabinet! -
LOL!! Bet you didn't know those guys could move so fast! I was going to say "teenage boys" but I think I remember a post w/your son's pic, if we're talking the same son, and he's about 29 or so?? -
The timing of this didn't happen to come around the 4th of July by any means, did it? You could have told them it was seasonal entertainment. -
Oh Julee..the lighting is so cool and romantic! Thanks for the picture...and the imagination! -
The whole project is just so lovely Julee. I do like the glow from the cabinet. Very nice. -
Hometalk posted this on FB, along with several others. Beautiful! -
Thanks for noticing Dave. For some reason they have chosen quite a few of my photos to post on fb. It's always a thrill! -
Julee S that's because your photos rock! -
This is an awesome planter!! Question: Have you painted/sprayed the outside of it so it wont mold or fall apart?! I had a wishing well and let it 'weather' and then I never painted it with a clear coat to stop it where it was! Now, I have lost it!! I would love to do this, but what can you do to the outside so it wont mold and fall apart!! Thank you! -
Thanks Pam. I love this piece too. Haven't clear coated it. We did fashion a custom-fit metal top for it out of an old garage drip pan that was under my Dad's car and it keeps water from getting inside the cabinet. We put treated lumber in the bottom of the cabinet and plastic planters sit inside the bottomless drawers. No mold at all and the water flows through and any wetness dries out quickly. We've screwed the doors together after the old glue failed and after a few tweeks in the ...» -
You are so inspiring Julee. While out thrifting today I saw a couple of pieces that I really liked, but had no idea what I could do with them. Now I do. I hope they are still there when I go back. -
This is beautiful. Now I know how I can make raised beds that are high enough I don't have to bend or crawl around. I would definitely have to put everal coats of marine urathene on them though because of all our rain. -
Thank you Jayme! Hope they are still there too, if not keep looking! So where is Bellaire Michigan? I'm in Bangor, near the lake between Kalamazoo and South Haven. -
So, Julee S what are you going to plant this year in this super cool planter? -
Love this idea!!! -
YES!!!! I just figured out what to do with an old washstand my mom gave me years ago that I don't use anymore. Thanks! -
Oh, I sooo love this!!! -
Very Creative!! -
This is just so adorable. Do you have this expose to the direct elements? -
That is just lovely and what an unusual focal piece. :)
