Electrical & Lighting Repurposing & Upcycling

I wanted a chandalier. But i wanted what I wanted so I made it. I used water bottles and 2lt s.

I cut out each peice from a plastic bottle. added two holes with a pin and a peice of woodd. I added beads in between each peice of plastic. I used a peice of something i had that was plastic and round (no idea where it came from) as the base. I wrapped it in white ribbon and then wrapped it again placing each strand in orrder as I wrapped it in. We have it hung up using two peices of hanger wire. we will find a better way tomorrow!

it was not hard and i did it in front of the tv mostly....If you have any questions let me know....Thank you all I was so happy I almost cried it looked so beautiful! The plastic really looks and acts like glass only very light weight.

Bernice thanks and it really was simple just time consuming. Collect pop two liters and water bottles. I used sprite, 7up, and siera....they were green and the sprite had a dimpled section that i cut into about 2 inches and used at the top on the chandalier every few strands. I also used green cuz I wanted it to create colors and it did also green and clear are the only colors i found. I did not want each peice to be the same size and shape so i cut each circle out by hand varying the ...»
size...the circle were not perfect some were ovals...I used a long heavy pin and a peice of wood to put holes into each peice of plastic so I could hang them. I used thin brass wire to attatch the two together with a bead in between. that is the easy part....the hard part is figuring out what to use as a base of witch each strand will hang off of.....I had something I found years ago and thought i might use....it is light weight but heavt sturdy plastic. I wrapped it with white ribbon as i attatched each strand to it to hold each one in place. Hanging it...we have plaster so i could not put a hole in the ceiling...we lowered the light and bent a hanger wire aroung the base and it went under the light ballaster...tightened it up and it holds it tight in place....hope this helps!
