Painting Fabric With Chalk Paint

Homeroad
by Homeroad
Yes I did it.... I painted fabric and I couldn't be more pleased! Chalk paint and water gave this sacrificial chair a leathery feel that I am in love with. I was very skeptical about this project but ended up very happy with the results!
A grain sack stripe and clear wax gave this fabric a buttery leather feel
This is the before
Several coats of Annie Sloan chalk paint
I couldn't be happier with this chair!
Beauty!

Pretty! Does the painted fabric crack? How does it wear?
    • Homeroad Homeroad on Feb 16, 2015
@Helen it does not crack at all.. I also waxed the paint when it was finished. I have a chair that gets a lot of use and is fine for 2 years now...

And the wax doesn't pose a problem as far as sitting in chair and staining your clothing?

@Lisa McNeal Lisa the wax is fine once it dries... I wouldn't sit on the piece for a few days :) After that it is perfect!
