Recent DYI construction of a bathroom - use to be a kitchen. We did it for under $6000 - a contractor gave us an estimate of $40,000. Saved $34,000 doing it ourselves. Not bad for a not-so-old retired couple
We used top of the line cabinetry, tile, etc and still saved 65% from what contractor quoted.
