Question

I have Rosewood end tables, and the oils from the wood have left a ring where the tables sat on the carpet, any suggestions that might be useful will be so greatly appreciated. Thanks to all who might have ideas or answers

For any kind of oil based stain in fabric or fibers, I always tend to think of the blue Dawn dish washing liquid first. I would try mixing about a tablespoon of it and hot water in a spray bottle, spray it on the stains, let it sit for a few minutes and then blot with a clean towel or cloth. You may need to do this multiple times because if the stain is deep into the base of the carpet (next to the backing), the stain could wick back up the carpet strands to the surface, even after it looks like you have gotten it off the top portion of the carpet. If this works and you are able to get the stains out, I would then mix some white vinegar and hot water in the spray bottle to rinse the areas you treated. Spray, blot. Spray, blot. Spray, blot. etc. Any soap left behind in the fibers will be a dirt magnet but the white vinegar will help cut the residue. Whenever I clean my carpets, I always use the smallest amount of soap I can and then do a thorough white vinegar and water rinse (especially in the traffic paths). The white vinegar and water rinse always seems to leave my carpet feeling softer and fluffier too.

P.S. They make little clear plastic 'saucers' you can set furniture legs on/in to protect your floors and carpet. I found them at either Lowes or Home Depot on the aisle where they have the wheels and castors for chairs, and the felt pads you put on the bottom of furniture to protect wood floors from scratches. If you are keeping those end tables you might want to pick up enough 'saucers' for each table leg so they don't continue to leach oil on your carpet.

Edited to add: They are called 'castor cups' and come square or round.

@Lisa McGraw for carpet stains I usually use the spray oxyclean, works on most things. Also @Shari  has an excellent idea for preventing future/further staining. You could also get the sliders used mostly on hardwood to prevent scraping of the floor or to easily move furniture on carpets.

Use 1/4 cup of white vinegar, 1 tbsp. of Dawn dish soap, and fill with water. Spray area liberally and let soak for 5-10 minutes and then proceed with blotting with a clean, dry towel until stain is removed. Some carpet stain removal products can be of great benefit for combating many types of carpet stains.
