Easiest Pillow Cover Ever

I'm always recovering pillows when I change my décor. I want the cover to be easy to remove and wash. I dislike making pillows that close with buttons or zippers or hand stitching. This is an envelope style that closes with an overlap in the back and it takes under an hour to make. It's my favorite pillow to make. You measure your pillow. Mine was 16 inches. I added 1 inch to this measurement all the way around. I cut the front material 17 inches all the way around. The back material is 17 inches high also, but I added 4 inches to 17 inches of the width of the material to allow for the back flap. The measurement for the back material was 17 by 21 inches. See pictures for further instructions.
I bought 2 sets of dish towels from TJ Maxx for $3.99 a set. I use one set for each pillow.
I had old pillows and some old vintage hand made lace from my Mom.
I pinned the lace to the front material and stitched it by machine.
I took the back piece of material and cut it down the middle. Each piece is 10 1/2 inches.
I hemmed the cut edges of each of the back pieces.
I then placed each back piece on top of the front piece with right sides of the material together. You can see the overlap of the back pieces that will make the fold over flap.
Pin the back and front pieces together all the way around. Sew it all the way around the 4 sides. I used 5/8 inch seam allowance. Trim the corners and the edges. Turn the case right side out. The flap will overlap in the back.
You can see the flap in the back.
It looks pretty good and I'm ready to make the second pillow with the stripped towels.
