Here's Why Canadians Celebrate Thanksgiving in October

And no, it's not because we want to be different than you Americans. Or because there's too much snow to do it in November (although there might be some truth to that).
Canadians celebrate Thanksgiving on the 2nd Monday of October.
It first started in conjunction with the Church of England's Harvest Home where farmers gave thanks for the bounty of the harvest.
The first service of Thanksgiving was held in 1576 to celebrate the safe return of James Froshiber after his journey to the Northwest Passage.
The first official Canadian Thanksgiving was held in 1886 to celebrate the recovery of the Prince of Wales after a serious illness.
Today we celebrate like many in the U.S. with a turkey dinner, a family gathering and autumn decor throughout the house.
