Cutting piece of carpet for bathroom
-
Marilyn Highley on Nov 06, 2013I'm afraid you were told incorrectly. If you put nap to nap, then cut, the new rug will have to lie upside down on the floor! Just place the old carpet - just like it was in the room - directly on top of the new carpet, exactly like it will lie on the floor in the room. And, yes, allow extra around the edges to allow for fitting, stretching, etc.Helpful Reply

Sue Weiker on Nov 07, 2013That's what we are doing. Didn't make sense to me that you'd flip flop it at all. Just wanted to see what you all thought before going ahead with it, but, we honestly were going to do it the way you and I think it should be anyhow. It makes sense. We will just leave a couple extra inches all the way around to fit it properly . I like to from time to time test out thoughts though. lol Thanks Marilyn. sueHelpful Reply

LandlightS on Nov 09, 2013I suggest you make a kraft paper pattern of the old rug and make sure it fits the same area. When it is in place, mark the top side TOP with a marker and then use that as your pattern for cutting. Much easier than using the old rug as a pattern,,,,,,,,and not chance of transferring any soil from the old rug to the new. Happy flooring,,,,GaryHelpful Reply
