Do you have to wax after using chalk paint on kitchen cabinets?

I have painted my kitchen cabinets and they say that you have to wax the paint after painting it on.

    Yes, you do have to wax them, otherwise the paint won't be waterproof (though it's never going to be completely waterproof, and might need some re-waxing later). But I so understand your doubts as it looks so matt without waxing...

    You can use polyurethane. I use the water based formula, Satin finish. Very durable.

    I used pure wax...from Home Depot...rub on..rub off!

    If you wax the cabinets, they will be difficult to clean. Use a non-yellowing polyurethane to seal them and make them washable.
