how do I use an antique clawfoot tub with modern plumbing hook ups?

Clawfoots have either in the tub mounted fixtures or wall or deck mounted. There are dozens of modern replacements available. I have ordered a few sets from Signature hardware. Here is an example of a deck mounted type. http://www.hometalk.com/Kevin/project/1151

A lot depends on the tub you have. Specifically, if your tub has existing holes already drilled, then you may be a little limited. if it's an older tub, my guess is that it has holes predrilled in the end wall of the tub that are probably 3 3/8" on center. If that's the case, I would go with one of the faucet types shown on this page: http://www.classicclawfoottubs.com/clawfoot-bathtub-faucets_tub-wall-mount-faucets.html Otherwise, if no predrilled holes in your tub, you can go with a freestanding faucet, or a faucet mounted directly to the wall.
