The Toro E-Cycler is a good cordless electric mower (which is far more convenient that stringing together 12 extension cords to mow the lawn), and Fiskars makes a good push mower. Push mowers work well as long as you keep up with the mowing. They are really tough to use on long grass.

My husband has had a Toro for years and it still runs great. That is the only brand he will buy.

I was talking to a lawn repair man at East Coast Lawn repair. He was very helpful and told me that he has hardly EVER worked on Snapper lawn mower. I believe he said that MDT or MTD lawn mower (Troy, Craftsman, etc.) are all built by the same company and are the #1 problem mower in the market. The reason I was there was because my Troy built had "vibrated" too much and cause something that was aluminium inside to break. Hope this little feedback helps.

Probably more for the European market, but I found this battery powered mower to be excellent value for money, and it cut's just as well as my old Yard King petrol model ever did. I know the manufacturer is a bit of an unknown, but don't let that put you off. http://lawnmowerwizard.com/trueshopping-battery-powered-lawnmower/
