Revamping Toilet Paper Dispenser

Our toilet paper dispensers are older and don't accommodate the larger rolls of paper and we were tired of the inconvenience. We came up with a thrifty fix that doesn't look bad to picky me.
My husband took part of the tp dispenser to decide what parts were needed. We ended up buying 4 washers and 2 lock washers, plus 2 longer machine screws for each dispenser.
This shows that the tp rubbed against the decorative base of the dispenser and that's what caused difficulty in unrolling the larger rolls.
The above photo shows the two 'arms' the center barrel fits into. The one on the left hasn't been taken apart yet. The one on the right is exploded, showing the original machine screw, the decorative base (there is a set screw you can't see), and the arm that holds the spring-loaded barrel.
He then pushed the new longer machine screw through the base.
He then stacked the washers on in this order: washer, lock washer, washer.
Now he put the arm back on, making sure the set screw and the holes the barrel fit into were all in the proper location. Some dispensers may not have a set screw but might just slide onto a base piece.
Yay!

Suellen Hintz on Jan 20, 2017Yeah, we love the toilets. They do a lot and are easy to clean, inside and out, but the most comments we get regard the heated seat. The night light is one of my favorites. Also loving the changes to the tp dispenser!
