Do you want to paint the tub?
.SO MANY, things you can do. paint and seal. decoupage and seal. The front face of a tub you can do any thing to. Is the interior in good shape are you just wanting to revamp the tub face? Post some pics
I imagine it depends on if your tub is cast iron, which a lot of older homes have, or is acrylic or fiberglass. There are companies that refinish tubs, and I've had my cast iron tub refinished this way.
In an old place, we clad the front of the tub with cedar planks -wish I took pics, it was pretty!
