Photo not the best of course. Looks like Cherry to me.
I agree , looks like it could be cherry
I would say it's Walnut. Cherry is too red.
It looks like pecan. My mother (almost 90 ) has a dining room set purchased in early 60,s in pecan and it looks just like it,.
think it was called Fruitwood. Lots of furniture back then was marketed as Fruitwood. A bit more brown than a pecan finish.
Ok, I know nothing about wood but here is 2 more pics that might help. You guys rock!
Yep! Its Cherry!
Sorry, but it doesn't have the depth of cherry wood to my eye... (cherry grain has that element of glistening depth... I don't know how to describe it, but look at the picture someone posted earlier, see those repeatedly glistening flecks of grain that look almost like you can see into the wood? That's what I mean about cherry) I think you piece is either butternut or more likely pecan. (have we totally confused you now? :) )
my foster grandpa was a wood worker- he made me a grandmother clock of cherry wood. comparing the clock to the furniture- the grain is not the same.
Looks like Fruitwood to me.
My grandfather loved working with poplar. I have a beautiful cabinet in poplar, which has a wide grain like this, with a slightly greenish tone to it. Could this be poplar?
Looks like pecan to me.
looks like hard rock maple to me I had a living room set and bed room set with the same grain and coloring as the cabinets as you showed.
Cherry wood is dark with a red tinge. It's not cherry wood!!..however, Cherry wood is so beautiful!!!!
Hi, It looks like oak to me
It's oak
Your wood is maple...my dad was a carpenter and he built my mom's cabinets in her kitchen from maple..I would recognize that wood grain anywhere! :)
Thanks so much for your imput! That is what I was leaning towards.
Have a great day!
Looks like poplar
It is poplar wood
contact a forester service send them the photo.
Reminds me of hard rock maple or pecan. Definitely not an oak grain.
It's oak with that honey glaze finish.
Look up timber furniture wood finishes from the time of your parents, that might help.
