How could I fix this canvas?

I have a canvas that's not going to hang correctly on the wall. It bows out on one end and I don't know how to reinforce it to make it lie flat. Someone suggested I put stickie hangers on each of the four corners and that will solve the problem, but I'd rather actually correct the canvas. I didn't think to see if it were flat when I bought it. With all the construction on the back, it seems like it would be. Years ago, I used to make canvases myself and would put a plywood triangle in all four corners. Will that fix this one?

In this photo, you can see that the top, the canvas is flush against the wall, but on the end closest to the camera, it doesn't touch the wall.

Here you see the wood on the back that's supposed to give support to the canvas, but it's not keeping it flat. Will plywood triangles nailed or screwed into each of the four corners correct the problem?

I like your idea of making triangles on the corners.

I would use the triangles. Great idea. If you can cut the triangles so the fit tightly between the frame and angle support, lay the canvas on a flat surface face down, adjust the triangles till it lays flat, then glue and nail/screw the triangles. Once you have it laying flat, check it on a wall before nailing/screwing.

You could attach the corners with velcro strips - 3M makes some that won't mark up your wall.

A handyman was here today and noted that one of the boards is bowed. I'm going to take it back to the store and exchange it.

small items like that steam iron the bow, set a heavy object on the bow until it flattens. (As the wood dries it will bow backwards)

try to return it, if it is still wrapped. If you cannot return it, get a thin piece of Luann wood and affix it to the back. If you are afrain you will split the wood you c ould try getting it wet and letting it dry(weighted) on a flat surface.
