A 50/50 mix of hot water and Murphy's Oil Soap. ( Works great on wood floors.) I use an old rag and a little elbow grease and voila! OR ........ you could use Barkeepers Soft Soap and hot water. Love to use this on just about everything including my glass top stove and shower stalls!

I think you are right not that the others won't work but then I would rinse with the vinegar and water because it is not that much trouble and it sure won't hurt. If you need the other ideas you could use some of them also. If all else fails buy the TSP.

Make a mixture of white vinegar and water 50/50 which will cut the grease and not leave an oily residue like soap.

Oil and water do not mix! Use a wood cleaner made from oil. Let set and wipe off. May take a few times but leaves your wood shining and clean.
